We’re Sending 3 Shop Employees to Jackson Hole

Every ski shop has at least one employee who works hard to make customers’ experiences memorable. Because ski shop employees often work late to help with inventory, test and learn about new gear, and brainstorm ways to increase sales, Skiing Business wants to help retailers reward them with more than a paycheck.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with Skiing Magazine for the Shop Hero Award and sending three of the nation’s best retail employees with an all-expenses-paid trip to Wyoming’s Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Last year, we recognized some of snowsports’ leading shops and sales reps during the Skiing Business Industry Awards (we’ll do that again this year), but a business’s employees directly relate to its success, so we also want to acknowledge the dedication and excellence of ski shop employees throughout the country.

Beginning in late November, retailers and territory reps can visit SkiingBusiness.com to nominate one employee whom they believe best deserves to be called a Shop Hero. Criteria for Shop Heroes may include performance feedback and sales during a given period in 2011.

Skiing Business and Skiing Magazine editors will narrow down the nominees to nine finalists regardless of geographic location. Then, in mid-December those finalists will each submit a 30-second video showing why they should be chosen.

Consumers will be able to view the videos and vote for their favorite nominee. After the votes are tallied, the three finalists will be invited to the Skiing Business Industry Awards party at the 2012 SIA Snow Show in Denver, Colo. to be crowned a Shop Hero.

The three will come together in March as they travel to Jackson Hole for a four-day adventure courtesy of Ski.com. While there, they’ll make turns, eat well, and experience the resort and town while being accompanied by a cameraman who will make a series of webisodes.

Like last year, retail and sales rep winners will also be announced at the awards party in January—nominations for these awards will also open in late November.
